Our Origin
If you knew anything about the Fennacys, you knew their love for the grill. Everyone would gather around the patio on summer evenings, patiently waiting for the grill master to start serving plates. Their ribs would fall off of the bone, seasoned to perfection and would melt in your mouth. Tri-tip was finely sliced and the perfect medium rare. Everyone knew that when the Fennacys grilled, good food was to follow.
The Fennacys eventually expanded to competitive grilling in 1997 and Brickhouse BBQ was born. It became a family pursuit - starting off with a food stand during the Cayucos Fourth of July festival. This led Merideth Fennacy to create the legendary Brickhouse BBQ sauce that would feature in the Morro Bay brick-and-mortar shop. While seasonal flavors came and left, there was a core that remained - The Original, Spicy, Strawberry Chipotle and Apricot Mango. These were the flavors that the locals kept returning to, asking for more and licking the bottom of their plates to get the last drop.
Meredith Fennacy keeps the tradition alive by crafting these small batch hand-made sauces with the same recipes from day one. You can find Meredith, her compelling smile and delicious barbecue sauces at farmer’s markets and events around the central coast.
